Master's Degree in Counseling

Please Note: We review applications one time yearly and the deadline for applications is always December 1 of the previous year of intended Summer/Fall admission. For example: December 1, 2016 was the deadline for applications being considered for Summer/Fall 2017 admission.

The UNC Charlotte Masters of Arts in Counseling Program has four concentrations: clinical mental health, school, addictions counseling, and play therapy. While many aspects of the concentrations are similar, there are some important differences.

The Clinical Mental Health Counseling concentration prepares students to provide a variety of counseling services to children, adolescents, and adults through agencies, nonprofit organizations, corporations and private practice. The School Counseling concentration prepares students to provide a variety of counseling services to children and adolescents (K-12) in both public and private schools. The Addictions Counseling concentration prepares students to work specifically with individuals, groups and families struggling with addiction issues.

This page includes links to the Student Handbook and the Clinical Handbook. Both contain important program information that students need to be aware. If you are new to the program or a returning student and have questions about your Program of Study, please feel free to contact your advisor or the program director.

Sincerely,
